The Houston Space Professionals (HOU-SP) will soon be a 501-C3 non-profit organization that preserves and promotes the talented space professionals here in the Houston Clear Lake and NASA contractor community and those throughout the United States. We are building a community of people passionate about space exploration, policy and education.
Our immediate priority is mitigating the job loss of our Shuttle workforce and canceled space programs, which caused our co-workers to leave the jobs they loved. We also invite everyone passionate about the space industry to join and help the HOU-SP remain a viable space research and development city. We are in danger of a great loss of core competent engineering and science talent. The help and assistance through strong networking are vital to this group of people. We are creating other networking elements through Face Book, InHouston Professional Networks, Linked In, BizNic, Twitter, Hoot Suite, and any other networking tool available to create a viable viral communication path to all SP's across the US and other centers where SP's work or have also experienced job loss.
Mission Statement: Our mission is to preserve and promote Houston's talented space professionals and to make space education resources more accessible to under served communities and connect to other communities across the US.

Introducing Communications & Education Outreach Programs Director for HOU-SP
BeBe holds a BS is Geological Sciences from Lamar University and has worked as an IT security specialist, a scientist, and an aerospace engineer; she currently pursues additional activities she enjoys such as music, management coaching, and professional speaking. Last year she consulted for Boeing Space Systems as a Safety Integration Engineer; previously, she was the System Engineering Manager for Command and Data Handling, providing critical support to the Johnson Space Center (JSC) Engineering Avionics Directorate. Prior to that assignment, she was Systems Manager Engineer supporting NASA’s Fight Crew and Thermal Systems, Crew Environmental and Health Systems, and On Orbit Information Systems. She held many positions in the private and government sectors, including providing security network infrastructure for the USAF. Actively involved in both sectors for 20 years of IT infrastructure engineering and security, including disaster recovery planning, she's designed and implemented systems networked from the requirements phase up to the final production platform. BeBe has developed relationships with scientists, engineers, and people from diverse backgrounds, including the arts. She's utilized these connections in creative and diplomatic ways to help create useful business connections. She was hired for her experience and background for the International Space Station, but her creativity provided much more than her employers or clients anticipated. In her career, she's worked within the NASA community in the Engineering Directorate for Command and Data Handling, Fight Crew and Thermal Systems, Mission Science for Payloads, Crew Environmental / Health Systems, and On Orbit Information Systems; all as a system engineering manager. BeBe is also an accomplished vocalist and is the independent small business owner of Vocals Unlimited, dba and Glass of Class Jazz Ensemble. She is the CEO and Principal Consultant of Aerospace – Science Consulting Consortia, LLC, and all are woman owned businesses. BeBe strives to help create a robust space program through the connections she’s developed, a day at a time taking humans to other worlds, including Mars. BeBe currently serves as the President of the Mars Society of Houston, and Space Technical Operations Chair for the AIAA in Houston and works with 4Frontiers Corporation to build relationships towards Mars exploration and other projects. She continues to work with several non-profit organizations to aid in serving the community to help provide new jobs for the displaced aerospace workers of the NASA-JSC community. She is currently working on a fresh staffing paradigm and hopes to gain the ear of the political community to create a stable retraining program so her business will create a consortia of consultants available for work until aerospace is strong again. BeBe has agreed to assist with this non-profit organization to develop it and assist the Houston Space Professionals with their path to transition their careers and maintain their core competencies.
